Numbers That Back Our Solution
What is Block Storage?
Block Storage divides information into fixed-size blocks, each with its unique identifier. Provides direct block-level access with minimal latency, ideal for applications requiring high I/O performance.
Persistent Storage
Data persists even when instance is stopped. Ideal for boot volumes and critical data with hot-attach/detach capability without downtime.
Automatic Triple Replication
Each block automatically replicated across 3 different physical locations. Hardware failure protection with 99.99% guaranteed availability.
Predictable Performance
Guaranteed IOPS according to selected tier. Ultra-low latency (<1ms) with consistent throughput even under heavy loads.

Frequently Asked Questions
What is Block Storage and when should I use it?
Block Storage is block-level storage with direct disk access, ideal for applications requiring low latency and high IOPS like databases, VMs and transactional apps. Use it when you need predictable performance, persistent data surviving VM reboots, or storage that can expand without downtime.
What's the difference between Classic, High Speed and Gen2?
Classic (500 minimum IOPS, ): Ideal for dev/test, files, backups. High Speed (up to 3,000 IOPS, ): For small databases and web apps. Gen2 (30 IOPS/GB up to 20,000 IOPS, ): For critical databases, SAP, Oracle, high-performance analytics. Gen2 also offers 0.5 MB/s/GB throughput with 1 GB/s maximum per volume.
Can I change tier after creating the volume?
Not possible to change tier directly on existing volume. However, you can: 1) Create snapshot of current volume, 2) Create new volume with desired tier, 3) Restore from snapshot to new volume, 4) Replace old volume. Complete process <30 minutes with planning. Alternative: migrate data with rsync/robocopy to new volume.
How do snapshots work and what do they cost?
Snapshots capture complete point-in-time volume state using copy-on-write technology (instant, no downtime). Stored with triple replication. /GB/month (same as Classic storage). Create unlimited manual snapshots or schedule them (hourly/daily/weekly). Restoration: create new volume from snapshot in <10 minutes.
Is data encrypted?
Yes, complete encryption at all levels. At rest: AES-256 for all volumes and snapshots. In transit: TLS 1.3 for VM-storage communication. Transparent encryption without additional configuration or performance impact. Platform-managed keys with automatic rotation. Compliant with GDPR, HIPAA, PCI-DSS.
What happens if a physical disk fails?
Synchronous triple replication ensures your data is always available from the other 2 copies. Automatic and transparent recovery without manual intervention. No data loss (RPO=0), no downtime (RTO≈0). System detects failure in milliseconds and redirects I/O to healthy replicas. Automatic background repair without performance impact.
Can I use Block Storage with Kubernetes?
Yes, fully compatible via official CSI (Container Storage Interface) driver. Supports: Persistent Volumes (PV), Persistent Volume Claims (PVC), StorageClasses for each tier, Automatic dynamic provisioning, Volume snapshots from K8s, ReadWriteOnce and ReadWriteMany (multi-attach). Ideal for StatefulSets (databases, Kafka, Elasticsearch).
What is the availability SLA?
99.99% monthly uptime guaranteed by SLA. Equivalent to maximum 4.38 minutes allowed downtime per month (52.56 minutes/year). Service credits if we don't comply: 10% credit for 99.0-99.99%, 25% for 95.0-99.0%, 100% if <95%. Measurement excludes scheduled maintenance notified 7 days in advance.
